"Art is all around at The Alexander in Indianapolis. The focal point of the lobby’s living room is Sonya Clark’s Madam CJ Walker II, made of 3,400 hair combs."

"The Alexander, which boasts of being “the only hotel in the world to be curated from the ground up by an accredited art museum,” assembled its collection with help from Veronica Roberts, former Adjunct Associate Curator of Contemporary Art at The Indianapolis Museum of Art. New installations are added regularly to the collection, which now numbers more than 275 works. Even the parking garages have commissioned art on display; British graffiti artist Nick Walker created large-scale murals throughout CityWay’s two parking garages."

Trick or Treat! Halloween is a few days away and we know most people are in a panic to create a last-minute costume. No matter your level of creativity, we’ve made a list of a few easy costume ideas for all ages and even a few suggestions for pets. Read below for some creative (and easy) Halloween costume suggestions!
Costume: Gumball Machine
What you’ll need:
Multicolor pom poms
A black/white top
Red skirt/pants (the gumball machine)
Black felt (the 25-cent coin slot)
Glue gun and sticks
Steps: Hot glue the pom poms to the shirt to create the “gumball” portion. Use the felt to cut out and create the 25-cent slot. Glue the “money slot” on the red skirt/pants to create the “machine/stand” portion.
Costume: Harry Potter
What you’ll need:
Red and gold striped scarf
Black, round, glasses
Red face paint
Black robe
Steps: Draw a lightening bolt shaped scar on forehead. Throw on the robes, scarf, and glasses, and poof! You’re a Hogwarts legend.
Costume: Holy Guacamole
What you’ll need:
Green t-shirt
Printed photos of avocados
Angel wings
Halo
Steps: Glue printed photos of avocados to a green shirt. Add angel attire and now you’re the puniest person at the party.
Costume: Bunch of Grapes
What you’ll need:
Black t-shirt
Black pants
A pack of purple balloons
Tape or hot glue
Steps: Tape or glue inflated purple balloons to your neutral under clothes. For an added detail, wear a green beanie to create a grape stem.
The anti-costume: Error 404
Steps: Find a local t-shirt screen printer or draw on a t-shirt “Error 404 Costume Not Found.” This is a snarky and minimal effort costume for even the most last minute of decisions.
Owner/Pet costume: Vendor and Hotdog
What you’ll need:
Red apron
White shirt
Chef hat
Doggie hotdog costume
Owner/Pet costume: Little Red Riding Hood and The Big Bad Wolf
What you’ll need:
Red fabric/hood
A basket of goodies
If your pup’s ears aren’t ferocious enough, add large black fluffy ears to mimic a wolf.
We hope our suggestions sparked your imagination and that you can pull together an easy and creative Halloween costume. Have a safe and spooky Halloween!

Moose definitely enjoys walking along the canal, especially when it means lounging in a fountain!
We sat down with this adorable pooch for a quick Q&A.
I love walking to Mass Ave because that means a Starbucks pupcup and a treat from Three Dogs Bakery are in my near future :)
I'd say my favorite toy is a good bone! I can chew all day! My other toys don't seem to last very long…
This is a tough question! Some people know this about me, but my pawrents actually chose me out of all my littermates because of my shy/timid personality. I've been a Nervous Nellie since day 1!
Thank you for sharing, Moose! You can follow all his adventures on Instagram @bernedoodlemoose.

What are your three favorite things about CityWay?
My favorite things about the Cityway community are:
- The level of pet friendliness/pet policy that CityWay has. My dog is incredibly important to me and finding a luxury apartment complex that does not impose a pet weight limit can be almost impossible, so I really appreciate that about CityWay! Additionally, the pet friendly activities and amenities (e.g. Drool in the Pool, Doga, Dog Park) are a huge plus!
- The apartment amenities are convenient and well thought out! A gym and pool can be somewhat standard for higher end apartment complexes in Indianapolis, but the movie theater and amenity center really stand out.
- The proximity of the community to the entertainment (Lucas Oil Stadium, BankersLife Fieldhouse), bars, and restaurants offered in downtown Indy.
What is something no one knows about you?
Something no one knows about me is that I'm terrified of scary movies to the point that I can't even watch the television commercials for them.
What is your favorite Indianapolis borough to visit?
I spend most of my time in the Mass Ave, Fountain Square, and Broad Ripple areas!

What is your favorite Indianapolis event? Why?
Circle City IN Pride in June! I've marched in the Pride Parade with my colleagues from the NCAA national office every year since 2015, and it's one of the most joyous days of my year. There's so much love along that parade route, and it's wonderful to celebrate my LGBTQ+ community here in central Indiana.
Where within CityWay, other than your apartment, do you like to spend time?
It's so hard to choose which place within CityWay is my favorite – I spend so much of my time here, even when I'm not in our apartment. Having the Irsay Family YMCA right next door is so convenient (especially to help mitigate all the time I spend at Qdoba). Sebastian, our dachshund, loves the dog park. I like meeting friends at Yolk on the weekends for brunch. We also like reserving the movie theater in the amenity center for special events. I use BlueIndy a lot, so it's great to have the South Street station right here. We certainly try to make the most of all the amenities we have here at CityWay!
How long have you lived at CityWay? What floor plan did you choose? Why?
This is my second time living at CityWay, so in total, I've lived here for about a year and a half. When I first moved to Indy in 2013, I lived solo in the Amaranth because it was the perfect size for me, and I loved the west-facing windows with the city view. This time around, and now married, we're in the Amethyst — I love having two floors, and as soon as I saw the rooftop terrace, there was no question it was the right place for us.
