Meet our Residents of the Month, Rusty and Emily!

This fun-loving couple sat down with us to share a little bit about them!

How long have you lived at CItyWay? What floor plan did you choose and why?
We've been happily living at CityWay for 3.5 years. We initially chose the Onyx floor plan because of its large open living space and all of the natural light that the corner unit provides. We recently moved to an Olivine floor plan to take advantage of the extra space and its huge rooftop patio with a city view!

What is your favorite thing about the city of Indianapolis?
We love all of the great restaurants, bars, breweries and sporting events that are all within walking distance. Our favorite thing to do is attend Pacers games and we really enjoy having Bankers Life Fieldhouse just steps away from our home at CityWay.

What is one thing no one knows about you?
While we went to the same college at the same time (and had the same major), we actually never met until a few years after we graduated!

Thanks for sharing and thank you for bringing your adorable pup, Lilly!

Meet our February Resident of the Month, Jared.

Jared sat down with us to share about his CItyWay experience and about him!

How long have you lived at CityWay, what floorplan did you choose and why?
I have lived at CityWay for two and a half years now. I lived in a Cadmium for a couple of years with a college buddy of mine. That layout worked great for us. I travel a lot for work so he had the place to himself for 10 nights a month, usually. His work took him out of Indy recently, so now I am in the Azure. It's a great space for one person.

What are your three favorite things about CityWay?
The proximity to the YMCA. I can't imagine driving to the gym anymore. The pool. The central location to Georgia St., Mass Ave. and Fountain Square. You can't beat it. When I first moved here, my friends and I definitely spent more time on Georgia Street, but these days I like to check out Mass Ave. and Fountain Square.

Tell us a fun fact about you?
When I used to be a flight instructor at Purdue, I was involved with an organization called Able Flight. Through that program I had a student pilot that was paralyzed from the waist down. With a special airplane that used hand controls, he was able to get his pilots license! This is obviously a way more impressive fact for him than it is me, but it is something I will never forget and am incredibly grateful to have been part of.

Thank you, Jared, for sharing these fantastic stories! If you are interested in being our next Resident of the Month contact Danielle.

Meet our December Residents of the Month: Mike, Suzanne, Liam and Ean!

This adorable family sat down with us for a quick Q&A!

How long have you lived here, what floor plan did you choose and why?
We have lived here for a little over 2 years. We chose the Noir floor plan because we loved the big open concept in the living room and kitchen. We also love that our island and windows are the focal points of the room!

What do you like to do for fun?
We enjoy the local distillery, brewery and food scene here in Indianapolis! Including some of our favorites right around the corner at Blue Beard, Hotel Tango, Sun King, Bazbeaux, the Eagle, Bakersfield, and many more locations! We also LOVE our summers relaxing at the pool, here at CityWay!

What is your favorite thing about the city of Indianapolis?
We love that we live in the center of everything in Indianapolis. We are a short walk, bike ride, or scooter ride to everything downtown! Seeing the Colts play at Lucas Oil and exploring Mile Square, Mass Ave, Fletcher Place and Fountain Square are just some of our favorites. We enjoy that CityWay and the city of Indianapolis are family friendly, because our family of four loves to hit the road and experience all the Indy has to offer!

Thank you, all, for stopping by to share about your experience and for letting us swoon over precious baby Ean and great big brother Liam!
If you are interested in having your family featured on our blog, contact Danielle!

When it comes to searching for a place to live, it helps to remember that you're not just searching for a home or apartment, but you're also becoming part of a neighborhood. If you're thinking about moving to Indianapolis, you are definitely looking for a neighborhood that best fits your lifestyle within an urban setting.

According to Budget Dumpster, Indianapolis is fast becoming a hub for business and innovation. As a thriving metropolitan city for work, play and education, the city has a number of attractive neighborhoods that anyone would love to live in. Here are some of the top neighborhoods in Indianapolis and a few reasons why more people are moving and living in the Indianapolis area.

CityWay

CityWay is an all-inclusive, charming neighborhood, offering a new vibe to downtown Indianapolis living. Located at the doorstep of the city’s top entertainment spots and professional sports venues, CityWay inspires a new kind of lifestyle. Designed as a neighborhood to connect downtown Indy to Lilly’s campus, CityWay offers a medium to downtown living with a suburban feel by including what people need and want in a living situation.

With modern apartments, a world-class business hotel: The Alexander, posh restaurants, modern office space, retail shops, vibrant nightlife and conference and event space, CityWay is a one of a kind neighborhood that’s located in the heart of a bustling city. The location is convenient being within an active community, by having the Irsay Family YMCA at CityWay adjacent to the complex, and living in the heart of the city’s nightlife, including Plat99 and Cerulean within the CityWay community. CityWay simply offers an entirely new lifestyle experience in Indianapolis.

What Makes a Neighborhood Great?

There are components and features common to all great neighborhoods. As you compare different neighborhoods, you’ll want to match them to your specific needs.

  • Lifestyle Match – According to an online article on choosing the right neighborhood, you should consider your current lifestyle and needs when choosing a neighborhood to live in. Does it match your daily lifestyle? You might love a home you just viewed, but if the neighborhood doesn't match your lifestyle, you’ll not be happy or fully comfortable with living there. For example, you don’t go to the grocery once week, but rather stop by the store every night on your way home to gather items for dinner that night. If your new home isn’t conveniently accessible to a grocery store, you won’t be happy there because it would affect your daily lifestyle.
  • Outdoor Activities – Having access to the outdoor activities you love can make a neighborhood even more attractive to live in. The Indianapolis Cultural Trail provides access across downtown for jogging, running, cycling, or taking your dog out for a stroll. The numerous green spaces and parks located throughout the city also allow you to enjoy the great outdoors. Easy access and proximity to swimming pools and clubs, tennis courts, basketball courts and golf courses also make a neighborhood great.
  • Close-Knit Community – Everyone wants to live in a friendly neighborhood. Neighborhoods like CityWay and Library Square, where you can live, work and play within a close-knit community are a great attraction for anyone looking for locations that offer more than just a great place to live. Close-knit communities offer opportunities to network, make new friends and socialize.

Other components that make a neighborhood great include access to quality medical care, low crime rate, proximity to public transport, access to shopping centers, walkability, active nightlife and entertainment and much more.

The Bottom Line

According to Sublet Alert, a company that offers sublet monitoring services for Airbnb properties, choosing the right neighborhood is not only good for you, but it’s also important for your property. Indianapolis is the ultimate go-to destination for young buyers or renters who are looking for a combination of great living, employment opportunities and arts & entertainment.

For over 34 years, Buckingham has been providing apartment and community amenities to clients across the nation with numerous multifamily, senior and student housing options. As a full-service real estate firm that has departments in construction, development, acquisition and property management, Buckingham has been building and shaping neighborhoods and their communities for years, and isn’t planning on pausing any time soon.

Meet our residents of the month, Madison and Rhett!

What are your three favorite things about CityWay?
My favorite things about the Cityway community are:

  • The level of pet friendliness/pet policy that CityWay has. My dog is incredibly important to me and finding a luxury apartment complex that does not impose a pet weight limit can be almost impossible, so I really appreciate that about CityWay! Additionally, the pet friendly activities and amenities (e.g. Drool in the Pool, Doga, Dog Park) are a huge plus!
  • The apartment amenities are convenient and well thought out! A gym and pool can be somewhat standard for higher end apartment complexes in Indianapolis, but the movie theater and amenity center really stand out.
  • The proximity of the community to the entertainment (Lucas Oil Stadium, BankersLife Fieldhouse), bars, and restaurants offered in downtown Indy.

What is something no one knows about you?
Something no one knows about me is that I'm terrified of scary movies to the point that I can't even watch the television commercials for them.

What is your favorite Indianapolis borough to visit?
I spend most of my time in the Mass Ave, Fountain Square, and Broad Ripple areas!

Meet CityWay's residents of the month, Mike & Lynne Sobleski!

How long have you lived at CityWay? What floor plan did you choose and why?
We've lived at CityWay for about a year. We live in the Vermillion floor plan. We like having a lot of room, but the outdoor living space really made our decision. It was perfect for watching the 4th of July fireworks!

What is your favorite bar or restaurant within walking distance of CityWay?
We like Bakersfield on Mass Ave. Also, Yolk is a great place for brunch.

What is your favorite thing about the city of Indianapolis?
We really like how easy it is to walk or ride bikes around town. The Cultural Trail is awesome. We love watching the Pacers and Fever at Banker's Life and catching the Indians at Victory Field. There are always events and festivals happening downtown, and it's fun to check them out. White River Park is an excellent concert venue – super convenient!

We love our residents and how much they enjoy living at CityWay! Interested in living in the most premier location in downtown Indy? Contact our leasing team today to tour our available units, and learn more about what's to come for CityWay.

Meet Stephanie and Jason Grace, our June residents of the month for CityWay!

What is your favorite Indianapolis event? Why?
Circle City IN Pride in June! I've marched in the Pride Parade with my colleagues from the NCAA national office every year since 2015, and it's one of the most joyous days of my year. There's so much love along that parade route, and it's wonderful to celebrate my LGBTQ+ community here in central Indiana.

Where within CityWay, other than your apartment, do you like to spend time?
It's so hard to choose which place within CityWay is my favorite – I spend so much of my time here, even when I'm not in our apartment. Having the Irsay Family YMCA right next door is so convenient (especially to help mitigate all the time I spend at Qdoba). Sebastian, our dachshund, loves the dog park. I like meeting friends at Yolk on the weekends for brunch. We also like reserving the movie theater in the amenity center for special events. I use BlueIndy a lot, so it's great to have the South Street station right here. We certainly try to make the most of all the amenities we have here at CityWay!

How long have you lived at CityWay? What floor plan did you choose? Why?
This is my second time living at CityWay, so in total, I've lived here for about a year and a half. When I first moved to Indy in 2013, I lived solo in the Amaranth because it was the perfect size for me, and I loved the west-facing windows with the city view. This time around, and now married, we're in the Amethyst — I love having two floors, and as soon as I saw the rooftop terrace, there was no question it was the right place for us.

Meet Matt, our CityWay resident of the month!

Have long have you lived at CityWay? What do you like about your floor plan?

I have been at CityWay for almost two years now. I live in the Azure floor plan because it has an enclosed bedroom and plenty of space for me! It is nice being so close to the parking ramp, especially when it comes to groceries.

What is your favorite thing about the city of Indianapolis?

My favorite thing about Indy is the downtown area. There are plenty of restaurants, professional sports teams, events, and jobs all within a short walk. It is great not having rush hour traffic and simply walking to just about anywhere. When I first moved here, I didn’t expect the concert scene to be so vibrant and convenient. There are a lot of venues, and I have found tickets to be pretty affordable compared to other markets in the country.

What is your favorite bar or restaurant within walking distance of CityWay?

Hard question, but ReBar has become a new favorite of mine. The exposed wood and mood lighting give the bar a great ambiance. I would recommend the cheese curds and the beer card (self-serve beer). If you go over the three beer limit, they reset it for you! Another favorite is Union 50, which actually has a similar feel to ReBar but in a much larger space and the food is excellent. Union 50 is walkable from CityWay on a summer day, but otherwise a short Uber ride will get you there.
